
The Museum of History of Polish Jews (Polish: Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich) is a new museum under construction on the site of the Warsaw ghetto. The cornerstone was laid in 2007 and the museum is scheduled to open some time after April, 2013. The museum will feature multimedia exhibits on vibrant Jewish community that flourished in Poland for a thousand years. The building, a modern structure in glass and limestone, was designed by Finnish architects Rainer Mahlamäki and Ilmari Lahdelma.
The museum's academic consultants are Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett from the New York University, Hanna Zaremska from the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Marcin Wodziński from University of Wrocław, Samuel Kassow of Trinity College, Barbara Engelking-Boni from Polish Center of the Holocaust in the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Jacek Leociak from the Polish Academy of Sciences, Anna Michałowska-Mycielska from the Institute of History of the Warsaw University, Igor Kąkolewski from the University of Warmia and Mazury, Helena Datner from the Jewish Historical Institute, and Stanisław Krajewski of Warsaw University.
