Verona

Verona is a city in the Veneto region with 265,410 inhabitants in north-eastern Italy. Verona has 265410 inhabitants. In pre-Christian times it was founded by the Rhaetian people and became from 89 BC a Roman colony. As it lies in a strategic position at the crossroads of three major Roman roads, Verona acquired great cultural and economic significance. After the Western Roman Empire had fallen, Verona became capital of Theodoric, king of the Ostrogoths. In the 12th century Verona became a free city. A severe earthquake in 1117 destroyed many buildings of the city, so a large part of the amphitheater, the Arena di Verona today. Verona is not only the city of Romeo and Juliet, but also one of the most beautiful cities of northern Italy. The historic center of Verona is since 2000 a UNESCO World Heritage Site and not the only attraction of the city. The legendary Arena di Verona is high on the list of attractions Verona. In addition to many attractions, museums and cultural events Verona has an excellent cuisine and excellent wines to offer.
